How a Brow Lift Can Help Shed Years Off Your Appearance

Are unwanted brow lines & wrinkles making you look older and more tired than you are? A blepharoplasty is a safe and effective cosmetic procedure that can instantly rejuvenate your appearance.

A blepharoplasty, also known as a brow lift, helps correct sagging skin on the forehead and around the upper eyelids.

Although considered to be a cosmetic surgical procedure, a brow lift can be performed for:

  • Functional reasons (to improve vision which has been impaired by a drooping brow)
  • Cosmetic reasons (to eliminate deep creases, unwanted facial lines, and drooping eyelids)

In many cases, to produce a more youthful appearance, a blepharoplasty is often combined with eyelid surgery in an effort to reduce the sagging skin of the upper eyelids.

What is the Goal of Blepharoplasty?

As we age, the skin on our face naturally begins to droop. This includes your neck, cheeks, and brow region. A blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that is designed to restore the forehead and brow to a smooth and naturally elevated position.

A blepharoplasty can be used to:

  • Tighten sagging skin around the eyes
  • Fix drooping eyelids, improving your vision as well as your appearance
  • Remove excess skin/fat from upper and lower eyelids
  • Smooth out wrinkles around the eyes
  • Restore a natural upper eyelid crease

At our Edmonton clinic, a blepharoplasty can be tailored to meet your unique needs. During a pre-surgical consultation, our plastic surgeon will discuss the options that are best suited to your aesthetic and health goals.

Is a Blepharoplasty Right For Me?

When performed by a board-certified surgeon, a blepharoplasty is a safe and effective cosmetic procedure for most patients. In general, ideal candidates are those who are in good health and who do not smoke.

You may want to consider a brow lift if you have:

  • Descended brows
  • Flattened brow arches
  • Deep forehead horizontal creases
  • Excess skin or fatty tissue hanging over your eyes

TIP: If you do smoke, it is often recommended that you stop two weeks prior to your cosmetic procedure and for at least one month after your surgery.
