Brow Lift

A Brow Lift, also referred to as a forehead lift or browplasty, is a procedure that is used to reverse the effects of gravity and tighten the soft tissues in your forehead. This will restore a more youthful contour to your forehead skin, upper eyelids and eyebrows. Brow lifts can be conducted using a variety of different methods, depending on your aesthetic needs and desires. A youthful brow sits above the orbital rim and has a gradual lateral arch. The lateral end, or "tail" portion of the brow should be located higher than the medial end (which is closer to your nose). As we age our brows are likely to become more flat or horizontal, and may inhibit your facial expressions. A brow lift is an excellent way to restore youthfulness to the top third of your face.

When to Consider a Brow Lift

You might consider a brow lift if:

  • You appear sad, tired or grumpy because of your sagging or low eyebrow position
  • Your forehead has developed deep horizontal creases
  • You have furrows or frown lines between your eyebrows or across the top of your nose
  • There is excess skin or fatty tissue hanging over your eyes

A brow lift can reposition a low or sagging brow that hangs over your upper eyelid as well as raise your eyebrows to a more alert and youthful position. It can also be used to make you appear happier, friendlier and more approachable if you often appear sad, tired or grumpy because of your eyebrow position.

Like all surgical procedures this should only be  performed by a highly experienced, board certified plastic surgeon. This procedure is very clinician dependent as the choice of brow lift technique is very important. Different techniques must be used to achieve different results. If you wish to eradicate crows feet or restore a more youthful look to your baggy eyelids as well as alter your brow you may require blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) in conjunction with a brow lift.

Am I a good candidate?

A brow lift can correct a variety of brow related aesthetic problems. You may be a good candidate for a brow lift if:

  • The outside edges of your eyebrows sag, making you look sad
  • The central point of your eyebrows hang down, making you look angry
  • You have frown lines between your eyebrows
  • You are in good health and have realistic expectations

Before undergoing any form of plastic surgery you should consult with your doctor and your plastic surgeon.
