A breast lift is used to address sagging and uneven breasts, decreased breast volume and drooping nipples and stretched areolas. A breast lift can recreate youthful shape and restore lift to your breasts. If you are looking to increase or decrease your breast volume slightly your plastic surgeon may recommend a breast augmentation or breast reduction be performed in addition to the lift.
You may consider a breast lift if:
- Gravity, pregnancy, nursing, weight gain or loss, normal aging and/or heredity have caused your breasts to sag and lose their youthful lift.
- You have consulted with your plastic surgeon and he or she feel that a breast augmentation alone will not give you the beast contour you desire.
- The tissue surrounding your nipples and/or areolas has become stretched and your nipples point downwards.
- Your breasts are pendulous but adequate in size.
- Your breasts lack firmness or substance.
- Your breasts appear different from each other.
- Your breasts are relatively small. A breast lift can be performed on large breasts but the results tend not to last as long due to their weight and the effects of gravity.
- You have finished childbearing and nursing. Pregnancy and nursing can stretch the breasts and reduce their volume, compromising the surgical benefits.
