Have loose thigh skin from aging or weight loss? Our customized body contouring procedures, including a medial thigh lift and liposuction, can help rejuvenate your appearance.

As we age, the skin of our thighs loses elasticity and begins to sag. This is especially true for patients who have experienced repeated periods of weight gain and loss, in which the skin has been stretched multiple times.

In such cases, this skin cannot typically be tightened with diet and exercise and instead requires plastic surgery to deliver a pleasing solution.

What is a Medial Thigh Lift?

A medial thigh lift is a body contouring procedure that lifts and tightens the loose and/or sagging folds of skin typically experienced around the inner thigh area.

A thigh lift can:

  • Remove excess tissue
  • Result in firmer and smoother thigh skin
  • Create a more youthful figure
  • Create better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body

Liposuction and Medial Thigh Lift

A complete approach to a medial thigh lift typically involves removal of excess upper thigh fat (usually performed by liposuction) and then tailoring the overlying skin for a firmer appearance.

During a consultation, your plastic surgeon may suggest that you combine a thigh lift procedure with liposuction to remove surplus fat and free up the skin to allow it to be lifted more effectively.

Am I a Candidate for a Thigh Lift?

If weight control efforts such as diet and exercise have not achieved your body contouring goals, then a medial thigh lift may help you achieve a firmer, more youthful appearance.

Suitable candidates for this plastic surgery include patients who are:

  • In good overall health
  • Non-smokers
  • Within a few pounds of their ideal weight
  • Healthy with no medical conditions that can impair healing or increase risk of surgery
  • Committed to leading a healthy lifestyle, including proper nutrition and fitness
  • Worried about excess soft tissue along the inner (medial) thigh region and/or the outer (lateral) thigh

It’s important to note that every case is unique and upon examination during your initial consultation, your plastic surgeon will assess your suitability for this body contouring procedure.

What Are The Risks of a Medial Thigh Lift?

The risks associated with a medial thigh lift procedure are similar to other plastic surgeries including liposuction, such as:

  • Poor wound healing
  • Bleeding and infection
  • Asymmetry
  • Deep vein thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary complications
  • Skin discoloration and/or swelling
  • Unfavorable scarring
  • Numbness or other changes in skin sensation

However, when performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon, the risks of this body contouring procedure are significantly lowered and the medial thigh lift can provide safe, dramatic and long-lasting results.
