5 Tips To Make Your Botox Results Last Longer

While technically, you cannot make the results of your Botox last longer, you can extend the length of this injectable’s effectiveness. It takes 5-7 days for the full results of Botox to become visible and after that, it will begin to lose its effectiveness over the course of 4-6 months.

If you want to reach the full 6 months and make your transition between treatments as minimal as possible, follow these 5 tips:

1. Always Use an Experienced Plastic Surgeon

For maximum effectiveness, Botox requires an appropriate dosage and the correct injection site, which can vary from patient to patient. An experienced plastic surgeon will be able to tailor your treatment and create a schedule that is best for you, ultimately resulting in longer lasting effects.

2. Move The Muscles at the Treatment Site

Immediately after the Botox has been administered, try to grin, frown, and be expressive as you want. This will help evenly distribute the Botox in the treatment area, making it last even longer and produce more visible results.

3. Refrain From Rubbing Your Face or Exercising Immediately After Your Treatment

Although being expressive can be beneficial, avoid rubbing or exfoliating your face after your treatment as this could cause the Botox to move to areas of your face it shouldn’t go to, resulting in:

  • Facial paralysis
  • Eyelid drooping
  • Crooked smile
  • Cockeyed Eyebrows

You should also avoid napping or lying down immediately after your treatment. It can also help to sleep in a slightly elevated position for the first 2 nights following your treatment.

4. Stay Out of the Sun

Sun damage is a leading cause of premature wrinkles and because this wrinkling doesn’t involve underlying muscles, Botox is ineffective against them. After your treatment, try to avoid being in direct sunlight and always wear SPF on your face, neck, and hands, even on overcast days.

5. Remain Patient

It can take up to one week for Botox to reach its full results. If you don’t see the results you want, wait at least 6 weeks before trying again. Using different brands or too many treatments too quickly can make your muscles resist Botox or react in undesirable ways to the injectable.
